OD Pilot Survey Has Started

In order to properly assess the current transport situation in the project region, a pilot survey is of utmost necessity. Vital to the success of such a survey is the proper training of the survey staff.

For this reason, the project team of T4P presented a lecture at the UNAM Engineering Campus in April 2015.

In the first two weeks of February 2015, the Ministry of Works and Transport (MWT) in collaboration with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH held four full-day workshops entitled “Transport 4 People”. The workshops were held in Omusati, Ohangwena, Oshana and Oshikoto regions respectively.

The purpose of the workshops was to bring together a variety of transport stakeholders to raise and discuss the transport challenges,the related road safety and institutional issues facing their respective regions, and to identify possible solutions to assist in developing an active and sustainable transportation system for the future.

Thursday, 30 October 2014, was a landmark day for sustainable urban and rural transport in the Northern regions of Namibia with the kickoff event for the Scoping Study and Master Plan “Sustainable Transport in the Oshana, Ohangwena, Oshikoto and Omusati Regions”. The project was officially launched by the Permanent Secretary (PS) Peter Mwatile on behalf of the Minister of Works and Transport (MWT) Erkki Nghimtina.
